Yippee !!!!!🤩🤩🤩💔

At last, we have some freedom.

On Tuesday the 6th April and Wednesday the 7th Killie Heartmates Members

Were exercising for the first time together in over a year, outside at East Ayrshire Leisure's  Arena in Kilmarnock.

We are restricted to a total number of Fifteen including our trainer.

All places were taking up and although it was a very cold evening everyone was enjoying themselves.

After about fifteen minutes the jackets were seen to come off and the usual banter started up. The general feeling was that despite the rules of Social Distancing it was great just to meet each other again.

All the Covid rules were adhered to along with the Guidelines from our affiliated partner Chest Heart and Stroke. We are also grateful to Vibrant Community for their help in arranging the required Risk Assessment etc.

Outdoor classes will now take place on a Tuesday evening and a Wednesday morning (subject to weather conditions)

Members who wish to join us must contact our secretary Sheena Thomson as all classes have to be booked in advance.

A big thank you to the staff at the Arena for their help.

NHS Celebrations 2018

NHS England and NHS Improvement are working with a wide array of partners to celebrate the NHS’s 70th birthday. This includes other NHS bodies, as well as unions, local government, Royal Colleges, patient groups and charities. They are also working closely with NHS colleagues in the devolved nations, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Their plans include a range of initiatives that are national, regional and local.

NHS 70th Birthday Celebrations

As part of the above 70th celebrations two of The Killie Heartmates Group founder members John and Sheena Thomson were nominated by NHS Ayrshire and Arran to recognise the voluntary work they have been involved in with the group for over 22 years they also volunteer weekly at Crosshouse Hospital low intensity cardiac rehab classes.

They were nominated for the BBC One Show NHS Patients Awards in the

“The Unsung Hero Category” where they reached the Finals but were pipped at the post.

They were then nominated for an “Ayrshire Achieves Award” where they were winners of “Volunteer of the Year” 2018

John & Sheena would like to thank everyone involved for this honour and to all the members and friends of Killie Heartmates for their support and good wishes.

Exercise for Life (affiliated to Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland)

Killie Heartmates is an active cardiac exercise group formed in 1996 to provide a keep-fit class for persons young and not so young who have suffered from a cardiac event - angina, heart attack, by-pass surgery, etc.

The committee and members are dedicated to ensuring the continued success of the club. Unlike a run-of-the-mill club there is a common bond within the membership which creates a friendly atmosphere.

We are fortunate to have fully qualified B.A.C.R. instructors

(British Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation)

They are totally committed to improving members' health and fitness.

We are also happy for you to invite a partner (family member/friend ) along to join in the exercises providing no medical problems prevent them from doing so.

We meet every Tuesday and Thursday evenings from

Tues: 6.00pm - 7.00pm -- Thurs: 6.30 -7.30

Kay Park Church London Rd Kilmarnock
